Postcard Campaign
The Postcard Campaign is a collective action at the heart of the Right to Read movement. We see postcards as a powerful way for grassroots librarians and library movement activists to think and talk about what the Right to Read means to them, and to express their views to the Minister of Culture.
Through handwritten messages, people across India are calling on the Union Ministry of Culture to support free, inclusive, autonomous, and publicly funded libraries. Each postcard represents a reader, student, worker, educator, librarian, or community member speaking directly about the importance of reading and public libraries. Together, these postcards become a collective public demand for a stronger library system in India.

There are 2 ways to participate
📮 Physical Postcard
Write a postcard to the Union Ministry of Culture sharing why public libraries matter and why every person should have the Right to Read.
- Get a standard Indian postal postcard or request postcards from RTR.
- Write your message (You may write in any language)
- Add your name, organisation (if any).
- Address the postcard to the Union Ministry of Culture.
- Collect postcards in groups (bastis, unions, libraries, colleges, societies etc).
- Mail them together back to us,

Right to Read Postcard Campaign 2025 – Quick Registration Guide
Before you fill out the registration form, please make sure you have your details ready.
You will first need to provide a valid Email Address to receive updates. Next, you must select your Postcard Pledge by deciding if your library or organization can commit to collecting either 50 signed postcards, 100 signed postcards, or a custom amount (listed under "Other").
You will also be asked to specify your preferred Postcard Language. For shipping and communication, the form requires the official Library or Organization Name, the full Contact Person's Name who will handle the delivery, and a working Mobile Number. Crucially, you must provide your Exact Mailing Address, ensuring the Pincode is included so the physical postcards can reach you safely without getting lost. Finally, you will check a box indicating whether you have previously attended a Right to Read Webinar or Meeting (Yes/No), and you will have an optional space to leave any final Suggestions or Comments for the organizers.
